Dear Hertfordshire AGS Group

Hello from Michael and Allison at Slack Top Alpine Nursery!   Just to let you know details of our new book 'Alpines - an Essential Guide', which is due to be published on 24 October 2011. We hope that many of your members may be interested. It is written by Michael and based on his 25 years' experience as a nurseryman, growing alpines at his specialist nursery on a very exposed windy hilltop in the Yorkshire Pennines (Hebden Bridge).

Full details are on the attached poster, which may be of interest at your group meetings. If you'd like any further information, please phone us on 01422 845348 or email us on enquiries@slacktopnurseries.co.uk

Incase you haven't come across us before (we advertise regularly in the AGS bulletins):

* the nursery is open from March to the end of August (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
* we offer a mail order service, we attend many of the main shows (see website for details)
* we are also happy to do slide talks and bring plants to sell (unfortunately with fuel prices the way they are it is usually only feasible for us to travel within 1-1.5 hours of the nursery, unless the group is large).
* we offer an extensive range of hardy alpines, grown at 925ft in the Pennines - all of which survived prolonged temperatures of minus 17 last winter.
* we also welcome pre-booked visits from groups and are happy to offer a guided walk around our alpine garden.

Anyway, we hope some, or all of this is of interest, and wish you a good growing season for 2012 (with a mild winter in between!)

best wishes

Michael and Allison Mitchell
